Science & Art of Changing Your Brain
4-Week Workshop Series
The “Science & Art of Changing Your Brain” 4-week workshop series discusses current and emerging research about the brain, mind, and memory. The workshop sessions will share research on neuroplasticity that shows how the brain physically changes over a lifetime through experience, learning, injury, and disease.
Each week will focus on key topics related to brain function and health. You will learn how to identify protective factors and control risk factors to preserve cognitive abilities. We will also cover important research on the connection between brain health, learning, metacognition, relationships, stress, sleep, community, and memory. Throughout the 4 weeks, you will engage in individual/group activities, test your knowledge on prevalent neuromyths, and learn strategies you can immediately apply to support cognitive flexibility, mindfulness, and a healthy brain.
Week 1: Neuromyths & Neuroplasticity: Navigating the Brain, Mind and Health Connection
Week 2: Neurodiversity, Memory, Risk & Protective Factors Related to Brain Function
Week 3: Attention, Cognitive Load & Consolidation: Increasing Memory Through Attention, Practice & Sleep
Week 4: Mindfulness & Cognitive Flexibility: Transforming Your Mind, Brain & Life
Mindfulness & The Arts: Creative Strategies to Enhance Attention, Memory, Learning, and Well-Being
3-Week Workshop Series
Busyness and stress can affect how the brain processes information and memory. This 3-week workshop provides strategies and activities to increase attention to support metacognition, learning, and well-being through mindfulness, the arts, and creativity. Throughout this workshop, you will be engaged in activities that support brain health and well-being. The first week focuses on mindfulness, the brain, and activities that can decrease stress and support attention and neuroplasticity. The second week expands upon mindfulness and explores how creativity and the arts can support memory, learning, and flourishing. The third week focuses on the integration of mindfulness, creativity, and the arts to support brain health. During the last session, you will have the opportunity to share ways in which you have engaged in mindfulness, creativity, and the arts as part of the workshop.
Sleep: Your Superpower for Good Health, Well Being & Memory
3-Week Workshop Series
This 2-week workshop provides research on the effects of sleep on the brain, cognition, emotions, immune system, and body. Throughout the workshop, you will learn about the many benefits of sleep and strategies to support a good night’s rest to increase well-being and memory. The first week focuses on the connection between sleep, the brain, and cognitive function. The second week provides strategies and a checklist to support optimal sleep, well-being, and memory.
Power of Positivity: Mind, Brain & Body
2-Week Workshop Series
This 2-week workshop focuses on the link between positivity and health. Research studies have found that having a positive attitude can improve outcomes across an array of heath conditions, mindset, and productivity. This workshop examines the effects of stress on the body, brain, and memory. We will explore how positivity can assist in reducing heart rate and blood pressure during stressful situations and how positivity can assist with grief. Research will be shared on emotional contagion, the important role of community, and how emotions can effect well-being. Throughout the two weeks, a checklist and practices will be shared that can be applied to integrate the power of positivity to support a healthy mind, brain, and body.
Optimizing the Holidays
With the holidays approaching each November and December, it is important to focus on brain health. This 1-week workshop explores the connection between the holidays and the myriad of emotions that come with this time of year, including feelings of joy, stress, and sadness. Research reveals that the brain continues to change over our lifetimes through learning and our experiences. During this workshop we will discuss ways you can support your brain health through metacognition and mindfulness. You are invited to learn about the brain-mind-health connection so you can optimize the holidays. Our holiday gift to you includes strategies you can use throughout and beyond the holiday season to support neuroplasticity and mindfulness to increase being present, reduce stress, and create new memories going into the new year.
